Minocqua Area Fishing Report

ICE UPDATE! 5/4/2018

Wish we could give a more conclusive report on ice condition. As of 10 A.M, May 4th things still look un-launchable on most lakes.

Portions of the Flowages, where the rivers feed into, are open. Most mid-sized lakes (500-700) are still ice covered, though shorelines are pulling out and that is important.

With exposed edges, the suns heat can hit the sand and gravel easier. Highs in the upper 60’s and some wind will help melt ice from above and below. The wind can also affect edges, speeding up the melting process.

It’s a tough call for what to expect for the opener. Things will change as the time goes. Sunday should see some real improvements.
