Minocqua Area Fishing Report - 3/24/26

It’s hard to tell we got hit with a blizzard last week!  Three days of 50°+ and most traces of that snow are gone!

Anglers still finding their way across the ice.  The snow cover protected the ice from the warmth, but now that’s gone.  The melting snow has been seeping into the ice.  Plus side…little to no slush, the negative side…top 6-8” of the 17-23” reported getting punky.  A few landings on the North sides of lakes pulling away due to melting from blacktop accesses.  Once on ice, things still good.

Bluegill:  Very Good – Pushing in shallower with melting.  Gills taking #3:#4 tungsten jugs tipped with motor oil, red or purple plastics.  Waxies and spikes not being turned down.  Six to 10” of weeds.  Some still out over 12-16’ med/weed lines suspended.

Crappie:  Very Good – Tip-down season.  With holes not freezing, tip-downs tipped with rosies and waxies, as well as, slow dropping fluttering light jigs tipped with pink, white or silver plastic tails.

Yellow Perch:  Very Good – Wigglers and red spikes over 14-20’ mud.  Tip-downs with small rosies or Crappie minnows.  Perch feeding up, building eggs for ice out and spawn.

Forecast of three days of warm (3/23-3/25), mix of possible rain/snow followed by three days of highs in 30’s, lows in teens.  Will still have fishable ice this week, but the 29th of March through the 4th of April, seven days in 40’s to 50’s could mean the end by the first weekend of April.  Keep an eye on the weather and future updates here.
