Minocqua Area Fishing Report - 4/6/26

Ice fishing looks to be coming to an end. This past week with ice, heavy wet snow and wind really took its toll on ice conditions. Northern shorelines are deteriorating fast and ice, where one can get out, is very sloppy. Warmer weather and rain in the next few days will make it even more difficult for one to safely get out. Very few people going out and in turn, very few reports on fishing. The few anglers I talked to said one had to work to get fish. The weather fronts seemed to really mess with the fish cooperating to bite.
Panfish: Fair – Like I said, very few repots. Those that I did hear from said there was a very short bite window early in the morning. Panfish have been starting to move in shallower. Small tungsten jig tipped with spikes or wax worms took fish that wanted to bite. Smaller baits were a must for these finicky fish.
As most of us get ready for open water there are still a few going out on the ice. Just make sure you bring a spud and picks to make the outing a safe one.
Line sale going on until April 26th. Get your reels together and stop in to get spooled up and check out the new gear we are starting to get out on the shelves.
